Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

Item upgrade, commonly called "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment results in an increase in the linearity of the stats of a particular.

Players can recycle up to six items at a time in order to gain an ability to gauge the level of each of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling an item scales with its rarity and level.

Upgrade components

To upgrade an item, select it from your inventory and open the Upgrade window. The window will show a preview on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected stats are after the upgrade, and any materials or components required. If you don't have enough of either the upgrade button will say Blocked.

The upper-right corner shows the number of upgrade components required for an item. The cost of an upgrade increases depending on the level of the upgrade and its rarity, but can be reduced by various methods, such as buying upgrades at a merchant or trading them to other players.

Most weapons can be upgraded using a prefix upgrade for example, an insignia or a rune. Many can be upgraded using an upgrade suffix. These upgrades alter the name of the item, adding an adjective, for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor.' The exceptions are the non-inscribable wands, the shields and foci from Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which cannot be upgraded with any kinds of mods.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to convey information via visuals. They move to catch the viewer's attention and spur curiosity in the brain. The animation of glyphs resembles body language, making them even more effective in conveying the message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs also create a sense of familiarity in the brain, which increases retention of the message.

Each glyph can increase a stat's value by a specific amount. This is shown on the item when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This isn't the actual amount at which the glyph will increase the stat, but rather the maximum amount by which it can increase a stat. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and the quality of the item you're enchanting it to.

The majority of upgrade components that are added to items cannot be removed or replaced without dismantling them, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a glyph or rune you don't want to use but it hasn't been incorporated to the gear yet, you can transfer the item to another piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu on the Glyphs Panel. This will create an Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.

If you are looking to remove the glyph from an item then you'll need to salvage it with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. This will destroy the item that it was installed in, but you can recover the upgraded item with the glyph and its shards so this should not be considered a loss.

The addition of a glyph to an item may cause it to become unstable and the shards of the glyph will disappear from your inventory when you remove the item. You can also apply an inscription to your equipment to add an additional benefit. For example the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and then deal it out slowly rather than all at once. This is beneficial for players who suffer lots of damage from enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens are used to change the affixes on weapons and other equipment. They can be obtained from various sources, such as mystery boxes and rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Each reroll gives the player a random affix that is generally better than the one they had prior to. Reroll tokens can also be used to upgrade the weapon's stats to increase damage or bonuses.

Rerolled items do not appear in the menu of item upgrades, but they can still be upgraded. These rerolled items are able to be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button, which changes the layout of the item window and allows up to six items to be selected to recycle. Recycling an item can add a small amount of points to its level gauge. This amount is determined by the item's rarity and its level, which means higher-level items are more useful to recycle than lower-level ones.

Leveling

There are a variety of ways to boost the value of an item upgrade. The first is to increase the amount of upgrade, which increases the value of upgrading the stat. The alternative is to increase the effect of the upgrade, which can increase the damage or healing of a stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type.
